Food is definitely one of the highlights of Rome’s best things to do. Italian food is one of the best in the world and the capital city is full of amazing restaurant no matter how big your budget is.

There are so many options, making a choice can be hard and it took us a lot of time to scan the menus, the areas, the pros, the cons… and are glad having done so (the only restaurant we didn’t checked before was a complete fail).

The 2000 years old amphitheater is an absolute must do in Rome. No wonder why it is always ranked top 1 in the best sights to visit in Rome!  The spectacular landmark was one of our favorites. Like Maximus said « Strength and honor ».

Each late afternoon, the cherry on top of our day was to drink a fresh beer in a private outdoor Jacuzzi while enjoying an astonishing view over Rome! You can’t expect anything best after walking all day!

Vatican City is one of the most iconic things to see in Rome. The Unesco world heritage site and smallest nation state will offer you numerous stunning photography opportunities. The San Pietro Basilica and the Sistine Chapel will just blow your mind! 

Our favorite Piazza in Rome with its incredible lights, colors, the Bernini fountain, the Spanish steps … And if you didn’t spend all you money during your trip, the piazza is next to the luxury shopping area (Gucci, Bulgari, Valentino, and also many more underground designers) 

Probably one of the most authentic neighborhood we did in Rome. The streets are full of life, of color and restaurants. One of the coolest part of the city and cherry on the cake, most of the streets are pedestrian! 

The most iconic fountain in the world deserves to be famous. Designed by Nicola Salvi and dedicated to Oceanus, the baroque masterpiece is absolutely marvelous and… magic. By throwing a coin in it, you’ll be sure to come back again!

The show when walking by night in the Eternal City is simply astonishing! With the dark and different lighting, all the sights will offer you a totally different perspective and a completely different staging. The HUGE bonus is that all the sites that are overcrowded and noisy by day will be empty and just for you! I know, after a long day walk, with your feet all used up, it looks like a masochist idea… but believe me, even after a bottle of wine (and even two) served with your diner you won’t be able to mess up your pictures! The scenery is so great; you’ll just have to push the button.

Welcome aboard for a unique travel in time! The two thousand plus years forum is one of the most visited sites in Rome and is really worth it. Walking along the ancient streets makes you feel you can almost hear the debates, see people going to the temples or smell the flavors of the olive oil sold by the numerous traders. The forum was definitely the center of the ancient Rome, a city that already reached 1 million people at that time!

Italians have just taken the cool dessert to a whole superior level. You like ice cream? you will fall in love with gelatos! A trip in Rome is unfinished if you have not tasted at least one of this masterpiece!

Campodiglio is the smallest of the seven hills in Rome but certainly, the most important one. Chosen by Romulus himself, the place was the ancient Rome’s heart of the religious and politic power. It will also give a unique vantage point over the Roman Forum to e sure to check it out!

The papal castle is surely one of the most beautiful areas of Rome. The view from the Sant’Angelo Bridge is not one to miss! It is one of the most sacred place in Rome, being successively a monumental tomb for Hadrian, then a symbol of Rome’s imperial power and later a huge papal fortress. The fortress even had a secret escape « il Passetto di Borgo » that was directly connected to the Vatican! The castle is really beautiful and the scenery with the Tiber is just amazing, it’s difficult to imagine that it was one of the busiest execution sites in Rome… in the courtyards happened scenes which would have made king Joffrey green with envy: executions, decapitations, heads hung from the parapets… If Cellini and Caravaggio survived their imprisonment, all prisoners were not so lucky.

The extraordinary Borghese Gardens in the city center is huge and will provide you with many delights! Art lovers will find there the Borghese Gallery, far less crowded than the Vatican Museum, with an impressive collection of Bernini, Raffaello, Caravaggio’s masterpieces. Photo addicts will find many one of the most romantic views of Rome at the Pincio Terrace. And don’t forget to enjoy a drink the sumptuous Garden Bar at the Aldrovandi Villa Borghese, a stylish urban oasis overlooking the Villa Borghese.

In the city of the seven hills it does seems like a good idea to climb a little bit, the reward will be even better than what you will be expecting!

Some of the best panoramic views over Rome are Janiculum hill (or Gianicolo), the Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica, the view from the Pergola Restaurant (in the Rome Cavalieri Hotel) and the Orange Gardens on Aventine Hill. Amazing view on the city’s skyline guarantee!

One of the oldest and most amazing construction in Rome, it was first build during the reign of Augustus (27 BC) and rebuild under the reign of Hadrian (approximately in 125AD). It is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman monuments, mostly because it has been continuously used since its creation. Copied many time, the Pantheon remains an absolute architectural wonder. The place is dazzling, no wonder why Raphael asked to be buried in such prodigious and enigmatic site.

The view from the bridge is really gorgeous by day, but believe me, when comes the sunset and the night, it becomes a fairy place where you will be able to capture amazing shots of Saint Peter’s Basilica!

The Ghetto was one of our favorite Roman «hidden gem»: when we visited it, there were clearly less tourists than in the other parts of the city. In this area you have everything: it is one of the most picturesque part of Rome, with fascinating stories and many amazing options to discover Jewish food and culture!

Having a drink in this baroque place build over the ancient stadium of Domitian is extremely pleasant. The site is a delight with both many terraces, artists and, on top of it, the marvelous Four Rivers Fountain built by Bernini. 

The artwork of Michelangelo, Bramante, Bernini is just absolutely fascinating…. if you really mean to go there, our advice is to book the ultimate experience: visit the Sistine Chapel before it opens to public.

One huge monument built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II the first king who unified Italy. You can take a lift and go to the top of the building in order to see a lovely view over the town.

You have some money left in the end of your trip? Don’t worry, Gucci, Bulgari, Valentino, every brand that have made Italy the Epicenter of style are here in Rome! You will also find many Boheme chic streets with more underground creators that deserve to be known.

 We wish we had gone there! We saw that Palazzo Manfredi has created the Court Bar, ranked amongst the Top100 Bars in the world!
