TIPS
Tips For Finding The Best Accommodation In Rome
For us a good hotel is 100% part of our global experience when we are traveling. There are multiple reasons explaining why we are deeply into beautiful hotels: the attention to the detail, the nice furniture, the well designed common areas, the beautiful views, the good smell in the rooms, the terrific bathrooms, the fine food… and more importantly the very good service!
When preparing our trip to Rome we realized how expensive are the hotels…. Most of the five –star luxury hotels are old school designed and will charge more than 600 euros for a 15m2 room without a terrace. We could not settle for that, so we started to dig on the web to find the hidden gem. Italy is a synonym of sun and it was inconceivable not to have a room with a beautiful terrace, it was amongst the number one criteria on our list!
In Rome, we realized that there are plenty of 4 star boutique hotels with luxury standards, well designed, modern and with a central location. You can also find superb typical apartments, which would give you a taste of the authentic Roman experience if you don’t mind not having any service.

Our Experience At Relais Orso****
The heart of the historic center is with no doubt the most convenient place to stay.
After hours of web browsing, we came across the Nietzsche Suite at the Relais Orso, it was a no brainer so we booked directly our stay there.
It had everything we were looking for, from a gorgeous terrace to the beautiful comon area and well appointed room and bathroom… Yes, I am obsessed with bathrooms and I do hate shower curtains 😉 this is defintely a no-go for me!
Expect
- A modern and stylish hotel set in a 17th-century townhouse, (hotel was inaugurated in 2012)
- An amazing location, in the heart of Ancient Rome (next to Piazza Navona)
- A short walking distance from all parts of the old city
- A nice interior designed by architect Danilo Maglio who did a beautiful work mixing old and modern elements. He kept the original floors, used a 15th century marble door and, exposed red bricks in the walls…
- The Nietzsche suite has a terrace and an outdoor hot tub with a superb view over old Roman roofs
- For those who don’t have the Nietzsche suite, the rooftop terrace offers a panoramic view over the city as well
Don't Expect
- A good breakfast (apparently breakfast is not really a thing in Rome..!)
- A lot of dressing space for your clothes
- A personalized 5-star level service (in a city it matters a little less than usually for us)
